Hayden’s 1st day of 1st grade was yesterday.  He was excited.  I was excited for him too…but I also knew I was going to miss him…lots.

This year is the first year Hayden is riding the bus to school, so it was a highlight of the day.  Even Maddy talked about the bus, she enjoyed getting to see her big brother get on the bus.

I was more happy to watch him get off the bus as he came back home to tell us about his 1st day.  I love how serious he looked as he raced off the bus.  He was the last one off at our stop, and well…I was getting a bit anxious waiting.

Hayden’s first day of 1st grade was a success.  We celebrated with his choice for dinner (I had asked him what he wanted this past weekend.)  He choose pizza and bread sticks, which I served on our “It’s your special day” Red plate.  The floor was his for sharing about his day during dinner and before for that matter.

So what did we hear about?  Lunch and how they learned their code for buying lunch.  How at recess it was loud and windy.  He met two boys on his bus that are from our neighborhood and also in his class.

And my favorite…how lots of kids went to the time out chairs.  There are two time out chairs and it doesn’t matter if two kids are in a time out already, you can still sit on the floor for a time out.  Now the big question – did he get a time out?  Nope, score 1 for Hayden.

I can’t wait to hear what he has to tell me today.   I am glad the first day is behind us.  I was a little sad yesterday, but it helped that Andy took the day off.  I ran errands yesterday afternoon sans kiddo’s.  Who can be sad when you are roaming a store….All.By.Yourself.

That is awesome. He literally looked like he flew off the bus! I love that they still have time-out chairs in 1st grade!!! Wonder if that will work in 8th grade!
