A birthday, rehearsal and family visit.

This past weekend was a whirlwind.  It included Hayden’s birthday party with friends and not one but two ballet recitals.

It was super fun, but more on that later.

Hayden’s birthday weekend was the weekend before and my family came up to visit and help Hayden celebrate his big day.  It was a fun, busy weekend.

It started on Friday afternoon right after Hayden got off the bus and that party didn’t stop till Monday morning after we all (well my parents, sister and I) took the kids to school and screamed BYE Hayden from the car, good times.

Friday started with time outside and a pizza dinner because who wants to be in the kitchen when their family has just arrived, certainly not me.

Within an hour or so of Papa being here, he taught Maddy how to swing on her own.  I had been trying on and off for awhile, guess she just needed the magic of Papa.

She was one proud little girl all weekend long.

The kids were funny they kept asking where Cossette was (the puppy) here on the far left.  She looked a lot like Willa now on the far right.  I had tried to tell them Cossette  wouldn’t be as small as she was when they saw her in February.

Friday night we decked out the house for Hayden’s birthday, complete with streamers hanging down from his doorway.  Who doesn’t want to be greeted with Happy birthday streamers, right?  It’s become a tradition in our house and Maddy has already said she can’t wait till its her turn for the streamers.  It’s the simple things, that and balloons my kids go nuts for.

Saturday morning Hayden was ready to open up his gifts.

They were all his favorites he said, although the skylanders were the thing he wanted the most this year.  He also received a new bike from us.

Sometime after present opening and cinnamon roll eating, Miss Tildy got to experience Maddy’s dress up collection.

This is the same Tildy who will be coming to live with us in July, hmm, I don’t think she likes dress up.

We ate lunch early because Maddy had her ballet recital rehearsal on Hayden’s birthday of all days.  So I needed to take her to her practice run at noon.  But before we left, we all enjoyed a piece of Hayden’s cake.

Nana, Papa and Auntie Heidi tagged along because they couldn’t be here for Maddy’s official recital.  Lucky for us they were one of the first groups to practice.

Here’s a sneak peak at Maddy, she had just found us in the audience in this picture and was so excited.

Saturday was a beautiful day, so we spent the rest of it outside, hanging in the backyard and swinging.

Cossette, isn’t she a doll?

Later Hayden and Andy took a bike ride, so Hayden could try out his new set of wheels.  The rest of us walked and caught up with them at the park.

Dinner that night Hayden requested to go to his favorite restaurant, so off we went.  And the dogs, well, they were happy to have some time to rest.

IMG_1434copy

And Millie, she was there too, she just never chooses to lay right next to the little dogs.

What I noticed most looking at all the pictures I took, is that I don’t take enough with my family in them.  I did have a few of them, but I wish I would have organized some more pictures with the kids with them.  I think it was just such a busy weekend, where we were always doing something.

Sunday did bring a little more down time, where Nana snuggled with Hayden.

We celebrated Mom’s day.  My mom, sister and I went to TJ Maxx and all got a little something.  We had a nice dinner at home and just enjoyed hanging out together.

Monday brought one last time to snuggle with our favorite little dogs.

And then my family was gone.  It was such a fun weekend, I wish we could do it every weekend.

Those pups are adorable. What restaurant was hayden’s favorite? Looks like he had a special birthday. So fun when family can partake in the festivities! Glad you got some TJ Max time with your mom and sis, always good for the soul. My day is complete…a post from Ms. Heather. haha.
