Disney World: A magical place

We got back from Disney world this past Sunday.  We spent 8 full days in the parks.  I feel blessed we got to be there, I feel lucky that my parents and Auntie Heidi were with us.  Family makes it all the more magical.

We went during spring break, a key no no if you read when NOT to go to Disney.  But that is when it made sense for our family to go.  And really it was fine, sure there were days where rides had 80 minute waits, but we didn’t usually go on those rides then.  We did go on Soarin in Epcot one morning after waiting in the 80 minute line, but Disney is great at entertaining kids.  They had this interactive huge TV screen that had them, ok, all of us, batting at the air to get the seeds to grow.  So yes there was a little whining from the kids at first but then they went with it.  And we all LOVED the ride Soarin.  So much so we went on it again with Auntie Heidi when she arrived.  Only that time the wait was 20 minutes.

Even waiting to meet characters has entertainment.  I have since decided I need one of these in my house as a time out spot, only it has to lock.  And no my children were not all smiles the entire trip there were a few squabbles and cranky kids along the way.  But there were also countless nights where bedtime was 10pm and rising happened early.

Along the way there were countless Disney cast members (aka employees) there to help us along.  I can’t tell you how many times I asked them questions, whether it was how do I get to here, where is the fast pass for this ride, and the list goes on.  Those cast members are there herding us all along, directing us to stay to the right and forming a human chain to keep the crowds on the right sides so that everyone keeps moving.  It simply amazed me how they always were there to help, walking up to my mom and I a few times just to see how they could help us.  It is their job yes, but they truly do deliver great customer service from the characters down to the grounds people.

This place is magical.  One of Maddy’s favorite rides was the Carousel, which was also Nana’s favorite ride as a child.  I love this picture, it sums up so much of what happens at Disney World.  It’s a sheer joy moment.

Disney world…more to come.
