Hayden and Madelynn love playing hide and seek.

We usually play it at night before bedtime.

I know it sounds like something that would get them riled up instead of calmed down and ready for bed, it doesn’t.

It seems to get the last of the sillies out of them.

They have yet to ask for one more time to hide.

We recently added a fun little addition to hide and seek.

Turn off most of the lights and use your flashlight to find people.

This makes it a little easier for the adults to hide.

Afterall, there are only so many places I fit.

Maddy and Hayden both love the addition of flashlights, I think it might be the reason they want to play it so much.

The only catch now, with daylight savings time, it isn’t quite as dark as we would like around 7pm.

It is a simple game, and I love that.

What simple games do you like to play with your kids?

    We play Hucka-bucka-beanstalk.

Basically, you hide a card so that it is half sticking out. Then the other people have to look for it. At this point that is all we do. But when they get a little older then the first person to find it says “hucka bucka beanstalk” and sits down ..pretending not to see it. Giving everyone else a chance to find it and say hucka bucka beanstalk. The first person to find it is the next hider of the card. For now…we just hide the card or toy. OR hide a ticking timer and they have to find that before it rings!

My girls love playing with flashlights, too. They don’t even make me turn off lights, though, they find dark rooms on their own. Which is that much easier for me! :)
