Kid Craft: Create a restaurant Menu

Last weekend Maddy and I had a girl day.  Andy and Hayden went to a cub scout outing, more to come on this.

We decided to have a day where we just hung out at home.

Maddy loves to play kitchen, or some variation thereof.  We hadn’t played restaurant in awhile and she was all for it.

Just before we started I decided we needed some menu’s, what’s a restaurant without menu’s and I had an idea.

I love art projects, and so does Maddy.

I told her we could make menu’s for her restaurant.

It’s super simple to do.

We grabbed some of these grocery ads…

If you don’t get a Sunday paper you could go online and print some pictures out.

Other supplies:  Glue stick, scissors, and construction paper.

I started with a folded piece of construction paper for Maddy, and explained to her to not put the pictures on the folded line because otherwise they would get bent when we shut the menu.

Maddy helped to pick out the pictures she wanted in her menu.  She wanted foods that she had in her kitchen.  But she also drew some pictures to add to her menu.

I cut out the pictures, but kids could do this part too.

Then Maddy put the glue on and placed them wherever she wanted.

The great thing about this project is you can make lots of different menus.  Each week I get new ads and as the season’s change, so do what is in the ads.  Maddy has already made two menu’s and can’t wait to make more.

Do you love art projects with your kids?  I am always up for a art project, especially if its simple.
