Maddy’s new spectacles

Back here I mentioned that Maddy was in need of some new spectacles.

We ended up with two new pairs, because at this age, two pairs is a must, things happen, children break glasses.  We decided to venture outside of our close by stores to get one of her pairs.

Our girl is rocking her new glasses.  She is in love with these rainbow pair as she refers to them.  So glad we went to this new store,  it is a store  dedicated just to kids eyeglasses.

Her other pair came from our local shop.  They remind me a lot of the pair she had last year that she loved.

But I have to say I am smitten with the rainbow pair as well.  They just scream Maddy.  And she loves that they have transition lenses, built in sunglasses, doesn’t get much better than that.

There was an adjustment to these glasses.  As I mentioned previously her astigmatism is what is considered severe now.

Her prescription went from a +2.25 farsightedness and an astigmatism of +3.00(right eye) and +3.50 (left eye).

To a +3.00 far sightedness and an astigmatism of +4.00 (right eye) and +4.25 (left eye).

So when we she put on her new glasses the first thing she asked was “why is the ground so much higher now?”

If you have never had an astigmatism you wouldn’t really understand this.  Luckily I have an astigmatism so I knew what she was talking about.  When you get a new prescription with an astigmatism it feels like the ground is literally coming at you.  It can be a bit much to get used to.

As we ventured home, Maddy commented that the trees were shorter.  It was kinda funny to hear her talk about certain things, even people were shorter to her.

No worries though, a few hours later she was completely adjusted and didn’t let those new glasses slow her down at all.
