The importance of Friends

Hayden has had off Wednesday through Friday of this week.  I thought I would want to have something planned everyday but it turns out I didn’t.  I sometimes forget that my kids favorite thing to do is to stay in their jammies all day at home.

We did have a couple outings this week though.  I took a chance and emailed a friend I used to work with to see if she was off.  The cards fell into place and we ended up at the zoo on Wednesday morning.  We stayed most of the day there, because everyone was content to hang out.

Friendships are important, finding those friends that you just click with you know?  This family of four we click with, it is a gift that I found Danielle so many years ago.  We talked about the first time we met outside of work with our boys.  She talked me into a park playdate on our Tuesday off, I am so glad she suggested it 7 years ago.  She is one of those friends of mine that no matter how long we talk I always have something more I want to hear about, something more to share.

Wednesday was a glorious day for the zoo with good friends.  We all loved seeing all the baby animals that were out for the viewing now.  These tigers were already 35 pounds that were born this summer.

This past week, we just hired our first official babysitter  for Hayden’s night conference.  The kids did great with this babysitter, she lives right down the street and is a sweet 7th grader.  I think we found a keeper in her.  Maddy was quite ticked that we got home when we did, both kids wanted to know when she was going to baby sit next.

Last week on Friday when Hayden had off  of school we set up a popcorn stand at the corner of our street.

I loved how excited he was to sell the popcorn and sell it he did.  With Maddy as his little popcorn sidekick yelling “Popcorn, get your Popcorn!”

Both kids had their first conferences and both went great.  Maddy and I are working on her learning to read, letter sounds she gets now it is a matter of putting the sounds together and getting that connection of words.  She is interested so we are trying.

Hayden’s conference showed us that we made the right decision in moving him to this new school.  He is thriving there and we are so very proud of all that he is doing.  He’s working hard at school and it is showing.  That is what all of us parent’s wish for isn’t it?  To hear that your child is thriving in school and doing their very best.

This weekend a pumpkin patch visit is on our agenda.  What will you do this weekend?
