The ocean for the first time

We are in week two of summer.  Which means that for two weeks now I have said I will make time for this space.  Swim lessons are happening and lots of play dates.  I made a promise to Hayden that play dates would happen this summer.  I told him this past school year that we would make time for play dates with friends from his old school and it just didn’t happen.  School work came first and we were wrapped up in projects or homework most weekends.  All I can say is homework took on a new meaning this past year, it was a great year.  But it didn’t leave much room for seeing friends on weekends.

So this summer I am determined to make sure friend time happens.  It is on our summer fun list, with lots of other goodies along the way.

On a separate note.  I was looking through pictures from April and it is crazy how a picture can bring you back to the moment.    My kids saw an ocean for the first time this April.  Crazy as it is, we were lucky enough to not only go to Disney world in April, but two weeks after we returned, we left for Florida again for Andy’s brother’s wedding.

I have to say what I was most excited about was watching the kids take in the vast Atlantic ocean.  We have wonderful lakes where we live but there is something about the view of the ocean that is amazing.

The very first morning that we woke up in Sunny Isles Florida we made a bee line for the beach before the wedding rehearsal.  After minutes of being by the ocean the kids were wet, very wet, it is safe to say that I probably should have listened to my gut and put them in their swimsuits.

Something about walking photo’s that make me swoon.

I loved finding shells with Hayden and watching Maddy do a dance with the waves coming in.  I love that they got to experience the ocean.

It makes me want to take them back, it makes me want to plan a beach vacation.

It makes me want to go leave footprints in the sand.
