The week….according to me

Today Hayden has the day off school.  I thought a trip to the library would be fun, but both kids thought staying put in their jammies was a much better idea.  And I am fine with that.  I am enjoying the sounds of them playing, for now.  I am sure there will be a squabble later.

………………….

I haven’t taken a lot of pictures this week, I think time got away from me.

……………….

Maddy watched part of the Packer game last Sunday mostly by herself.  And proudly wore her Packer shirt.

And I really do mean she sat there and watched the game, for two quarters.  Intently.

And then she was done.

Hayden just finished reading the book Hatchet for school.  I had reached out to his teacher for book suggestions that were at his reading level.  She gave me a list of suggestions.  Then she went and outdid herself by suggesting a few realistic fiction books to Hayden at school for their book project this month.  I am so glad she did, because I am not so sure if I would have suggested Hatchet he would have read it.

Even so last Friday when he showed up with the book Hatchet, he was excited and then didn’t want to read it that night.  So he started Saturday still dragging his feet a bit.  Turns out he liked it.  I feel the need to say “See?  If you give something a try you may actually like it.”  But I didn’t, it is one of those pick your battles.

Hayden loves to read, but he can be picky and not always up for my suggestions.  So I am thankful for his teacher.

Maddy had her school picture this week and she was so excited.  Hayden had his school picture a few weeks ago and (ahem) he wasn’t quite that excited.

……………………………….

Maddy has this way of asking me questions that I adore.  She asked all seriously yesterday at lunch “Mama, do strangers go to strangers school?  I am just asking?”  She always finishes these very serious questions with “I am just asking…”  It is sweet as if I would be upset that she is asking.  I have no idea why she thinks she needs to say “I am just asking…”

And yeah, how do you answer that question?  Strangers were our lunch conversation yesterday.

…………………..

Hayden is selling popcorn for Cub scouts, interested?

I am thinking about setting up a table on the corner for him to sell it today, it is a nice day out.  Maybe around 4pm, you know when more people are coming home.

I am not a fan of having to go door to door and bother our neighbors.  So much stuff is sold these days from kids, for everything, it seems a bit nuts.

……………………

Since I started this post, I have been interrupted countless times, the kids have argued with each other, and I have had to stop to make lunch.

The rest of this day will have us outside for a bit I think, raking leaves, playing and maybe selling some popcorn.

What will today bring you?
