Valentine’s Heart Garland

We have been spending a lot of time indoors thanks to the lovely cold/cough/fever that is making the rounds around our house.  Currently Maddy and I seem to be battling with it.

Maddy and I created this valentine’s heart garland a couple week’s ago, I have to say I like how it turned out.  I had spent some time on pinterest looking for ideas for a heart garland.  I wanted something simple.  A lot of the garland I saw out there done with paper people sewed together, I choose not to sew mine.

What you need

Heart paper punch

Thread & Needle

Cardstock of varying colors.

Maddy helped me  punch out the hearts and she continued on to do some for herself for another project.

Once you have enough hearts for your garland, I punched out a sheet of three different colors, and had leftovers.  I am guessing I have about 80 hearts or so on the garland, but it depends on the length of your garland.

Next step is to figure out how long you want your garland, I knew I wanted mine to go on my fireplace mantel.  Then take a needle and thread and thread it through the heart.  Like so…

I pushed my hearts close into each other so they partially overlapped.

It was simple to do, the longest part was just threading the hearts.  Maddy had fun decorating some other hearts while I was doing this.  You could also have the kids do this heart craft while you work on threading.

Have a valentine’s craft you love, please share?

This is super cute. I might have to come punch some hearts :) I was thinking of doing this with mittens this week. but we went other direction for crafts. Love that you and maddy find fun things to do like this. Makes me look forward to my upcoming girl time.
