What will they remember from this summer?

As our summer is rapidly coming to an end, I have been thinking a lot about what my kids will remember from this summer.

Will they remember that for most of the month of August we dog sat for a couple of my families dogs?   Will Maddy remember how she loved to play “tag” with Willa, which really meant chasing her around the house.  Willa was such a good sport.

Will they remember that some of their friends couldn’t wait to come over for a doggie/kid playdate?  Their mom said you would think our house was Disney World for how excited her girls were to see these dogs, loved that!

What will stick in their memories from 4 dogs for 19 fun days.  I will remember that it really was so much fun.

What will Hayden remember of this summer?

Will he remember that he challenged himself to read 50 hours for the rest of summer at the end of July?  No he hasn’t quite gotten to the 50 hours, he’s at 30 hours read.  But will he remember that love for reading that made him want to set that goal for himself?

Will he remember that this summer was full of camps, friends, fun outings to the zoo, beaches and parks?  He says summer went faster this year than last.  I like to think that was because we were having so much fun.

What will Maddy remember this summer?

Will she remember that  she got to see her best friend Charley a lot and her fun sisters?  I love how these kids play together, I hope they are always friends.

Will she remember that I tried to make this summer full of fun little things, like painting outside, bike rides and swinging on the swings?

I hope they remember some of those things.  I know I had my moments this summer, but everyone does right?  Those moments that you don’t want to remember.  I had those moments when I was crabby and things didn’t go as planned.

But I will remember that this summer was fun with my kids.  That I wish right now we had just a couple more weeks to do even more fun things on our summer list, we didn’t finish all of them, but that is ok.  I will remember that this summer really went too fast.  I will remember there were days in the middle that I had had enough. There were days I didn’t want an adventure and just wanted to be here at home.  I will remember that my kids had fun with each other.  They had their moments when they didn’t get along but they really do have that love and respect for each other even in the midst of a rift.

This summer…we rocked it.

Our family will remember your month of puppy sitting. They so want to watch your dogs when you are out of town sometime. I love the title of your post and it makes me wonder what mine will remember.
